Habitat Explorers

KS1 & KS2          2 hours          Available March - November

Special offer available for all new bookings. We are offering 7 of our 2 hour Habitat Explorer workshops (1 per year group) for £700. A small travel charge may apply outside of Lancashire and Merseyside.

Habitat explorers introduces pupils to the incredible wildlife found in their own school environment, building environmental awareness in a memorable way.

This workshop includes a classroom introduction, followed by hands on learning in your school grounds. It can be tailored to suit the outdoor spaces available at your school, such as:

  • Playing fields

  • Woodland areas

  • Ponds

  • Overgrown areas, hedgerows and field edges

Using a magnifying glass to view insects

Workshops will be tailored in collaboration with you. Depending on age group and available habitats, this can include a selection of the following:

  • Minibeast hunting

  • Pond dipping

  • Plant identification and parts of the plant

  • Comparison of invertebrate species between habitats

  • Plant surveys using quadrats

  • ​Tree identification, sketching and taking rubbings

  • Measuring the age and height of trees

  • Discovering adaptations to habitat and food chains

  • Discovering how you can support wildlife in your grounds

Habitat explorers supports key science curriculum topics including:

  • Living things and their habitats

  • Animals including humans

  • Plants

This workshop is ideal for focus days / weeks, making curriculum learning memorable, outdoor learning / forest school sessions, 'hook' lessons and working towards eco friendly accreditations.

1 hour workshops (same day):

1 workshop: £100     2 workshops: £160

3 workshops: £200   4 workshops: £240

2 hour workshops (same day):

1 workshop: £140

2 workshops: £220​

Up to 35 pupils per workshop. Travel charges apply outside of Lancashire and Merseyside

All workshops include:

  • Hands on science learning

  • A qualified primary school teacher, with previous field studies and wildlife conservation experience, leading your workshop

  • All equipment provided

  • Additional resources to support curriculum topics sent to the school

  • Session specific risk assessments

  • Fun for all!

We cover North West England, including Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cumbria, Cheshire and West Yorkshire
